A Mexico birth certificate apostille has one rule that trips up most applicants: it is apostilled by the state government that registered the birth, not by a federal office. The document is the Acta de Nacimiento from the state Registro Civil, and the Secretaría General de Gobierno of that same state issues the Apostilla de La Haya. SEGOB handles only federal documents.
The two things to get right are the copy and the state. A current acta certificada can usually be pulled online through gob.mx, and the apostille must be requested from the same state that issued the acta — an acta registered in one state cannot be apostilled in another. We obtain the correct acta, route it to the right state authority and arrange any translation.
Who needs this service?
A Mexican acta de nacimiento filed with USCIS or for a foreign citizenship claim must be apostilled by the issuing state and accompanied by a certified English translation.
Registering a Mexican birth in Spain or applying for residency requires the apostilled acta de nacimiento — no translation, since both are in Spanish.
Enrolling children, proving filiation or updating records in another country requires the apostilled Mexican birth certificate.
